The first tea collection was developed for the OHH CHA BAR, Europe's first matcha bar held in MUJI's flagship store in London 2018. We produced matcha, green and black teas that demonstrate the pinnacle of Japanese tea production and craft, where traditional skills and contemporary technology are combined to express terroir and quality.
The flavours, aromas and textures of these teas that defined this unique event are now available as Limited Editions from our archive, from both the original and most recent harvests.
Watch the OHH CHA BAR film by OHH. A short film documenting the passing of time in the city through the act of making tea and enjoyment of tea. Capturing a performance of tea in the aluminium bubble of calm above nightly bustle of London.
HOSHINO 18 demonstrates the breadth of flavour and complexity in matcha. A masterpiece of traditional matcha blending, made with tea leaves grown under the traditional honzu canopy of reeds and straw. Sweetness, umami and gentle bitterness are well defined and are all experienced in one sip. This matcha is made in the mountains of Yame, where traditional Kyoto practices are paired with modern mechanised processes, resulting in an excellent matcha unbound by past conventions.
We named this matcha COCO 18 for its heady cocoa aromas and smooth, rich mouthfeel. It's most intense and decadent when made thick – whipped into a melted chocolate like paste. Presented as 'Spoon & Bowl' on the menu, the OHH version of the traditional Tea Ceremony's thick tea koicha.

MATCHA CHOCOLATE is an updated and intensified version of our original matcha bar. This is our new recipe where we've created a bespoke matcha blend to be combined with white chocolate from Tuscany. These are produced in small batches in London by a master chocolatier.
These matcha bowls are OHH's contemporary interpretation of the chawan. Designed in London and produced in limited editions by hand in Arita. These tea bowls are jewellery like, unapologetically thin and shiny silvery pieces in a category dominated by the wabi sabi aesthetic.
